| The dielectric strength, otherwise called
test for the applied
voltage of a product, is the deformation effect of the atomic and molecular structures brought about by the electric field. The value of the electric field strength corresponding to the most bearable stress, after which the discharge happens, is the dielectric strength and it is usually expressed in KV/mm. Dielectric strength is an uneasy to define parameter. It depends on the shape of the specimen, on the thickness of the wave shape of the applied voltage, on the atmospheric pressure, on the humidity ratio. A range of professional appliances used to set this complex and very useful parameter is now presented. All the instruments comply with national and international safety regulations CEI 42, IEC 1180, EN 61 180. |
